“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom”, a quote from Socrates.

In this fast paced world adults may get lost in the weight of daily tasks, it may be difficult to see the beauty and good in the world, as the process of gaining knowledge often  becomes a burden and not an adventure.  However, just a small spark may ignite the flame of curiosity and wonder again in our adult lives.  Rediscovering our inner child helps us to rekindle our love of learning, our sense of wonder.

Children hold a natural sense of ‘wonder’, such a precious gift!  To witness children or anyone marvel in surprise at something unique or unusual, unexplainable or beautiful seems almost magical.  It is this process of ‘seeing’ something as if for the first time that ignites curiosity and wonder about the world we live in.  We can acknowledge how different the surprise may be from what we already know and realize how much there is still to learn about our world.

As children, learning is an adventure (or at least could be).  Everything about the world is worth exploring.  They learn more each year about the world and themselves in it.

Children at around the age of 7 years enter there first formal learning experience on their journey from ‘Wonder to Wisdom’.  They bring a fullness of curiosity and wonder to this second 7 year developmental stage in their lives.  In this new “adventure”, to nurture a life long love of learning is key to uphold creativity and imagination.  Children can thrive met by teachers who foster the skills necessary to learn, work, and play in an atmosphere of warmth and reverence.  In class the children hear fairy and folk tales along with nature stories that support the formation of letters, simple writing, and qualities of numbers.   Children entering their first formal learning experience in this way will have the opportunity to look out into the world and begin to develop discernment capabilities, cultivating a habit of questioning.

“First Class Fridays” are a point of departure for these young children to step into an opportunity for a good foundation on their journey from ‘wonder to wisdom’.

On Friday February 2, 2024 from 9:30am – 12:30pm I will offer an OPEN HOUSE for parents to come and experience, potentially ‘spark’ your curiosity and sense of wonder!

The days rhythm will be (approximately);

9:30am – Greet, Recite Morning Verse, Sing a Song

10:00am – Movement in Circle

10:15am – Morning Lesson Work

10:45am – Story time

11:00am –  Snack break and Socialize

11:30am – Morning Lesson Work

12:20pm – Tidy Class

12:30pm – Closing Verse/Dismissal
